Forty football administrators on Sunday successfully completed the FAMACO level I course, organized by Tangosport Uganda in partnership with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), at FUFA Technical Center-Njeru.
FUFA’s Football Development Director Bashir Mutyaba, who presided over the closing ceremony, thanked Tangosport Uganda for being a great partner to FUFA and expressed gratitude for people who have decided to pursue Football Administration and Management.
“It gives me great joy to see people committed to learning the game of football. We always emphasize the importance of being a lifelong student of the game; learning never stops.”
The course covered essential topics, including the FUFA Technical Master Plan, Introduction to Football Protection, Marketing and Branding, Laws of the Game, Strategic Management, and Football Governance.
FUFA Executive Committee Member Deo Mutabazi Akiiki, who delivered the curriculum, expressed confidence in the class’s potential.
“I am very impressed with this class. FAMACO is a crucial requirement for football administrators and this class will significantly contribute to the FUFA Technical Master Plan.”
He added, “Today, we’ve dispatched a well-trained group to make a positive impact in football management.” Mutabazi also noted that courses like this define the future of Ugandan football as bright.
All participants received certificates after completing the three-day non-residential course. Notable attendees included BUL FC player Vianney Ssekajugo, who shared his motivation for taking the course.
“I want to plan ahead for my future in football. The game is vast, and there’s always more to learn, which is why I’m here.”
He appealed to active and retired players to get involved in football beyond playing.
“I encourage all players, active and retired, to contribute to the game beyond the pitch, so we can give back to the community.”
Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) games teacher Hassan Kivumbi spoke about his reasons for taking the course.
“As administrators, we need to be professional, especially since JIPRA competes at a high level.”
He now plans to decentralize power and give departmental freedom.
“My first step will be to decentralize power, giving each department the autonomy to operate and respect decisions made.”
