All time winners, Gomba have on Monday 22nd November earned their first victory in the ongoing Buganda Masaza Cup winning Kabula by 3-1 score line at FUFA Technical center, Njeru.

Daniel Nyanzi, Brian Aniku and Abasi kyeyune Dian scored the three goals to keep Ibrahim Kiirya coached side`s hope in the tournament alive while the lone goal for Kabula was scored by second hall substitute, Rashid Mutebi.

“We were looking for results but there are things which must be followed because in this game we wanted more goals. The chances for scoring many more goals were there but my team is still young which need to be developed”. Stated Ibrahim Kiirya, the head coach Ssingo.

“We thank Allah for today’s win even though things didn`t go the way we expected. We have time of resting for two days and this means we are going to work upon all the mistakes and Gomba fans should expect nothing but winning”. Noted Jumah Junior Lutakome, captain Gomba

“We are uncertified by the way the referees who handled our game against Gomba. Yesterday we lost in a good way unlike today but that is football you can, lose or share points”. Said Mbazira Richard, the head coach Kabula.

“The two days break we are going to have will help us correct our mistakes and make sure that we can win our last two games”. Added Mbazira

Kabula lost to 2011 champions, Buluuli by 5-2 score line in their group opening game on Sunday 21st November.

Gomba Ssaza line up against Kabula

In Masengere group, Kabula remain with Ssingo whom they will face on Thursday 25th with kick off at 3PM before taking on Kyadondo in their last group game on Saturday 27th afternoon.

Meanwhile Gomba who lost to Kyadondo in 2021 Masaza Cup opening match which was graced by His Highness the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II by 2-0 score line will return to action on Thursday 25th against Buluuli before taking on Ssingo in the last group game on Monday 29th November.

In other group game, Kyadondo shared spoils (2-2) with Ssingo in an encounter played earlier on. Kyadondo goals were scored by Kenneth Kimera while Mike Kayongo netted for Ssingo to register a brace on his name.

Table Standing

Kyadondo now tops with four (4) points, Buluuli three (3) points but with a difference of two goals, Gomba three (3) points with no goals, Ssingo with one (1) point and Kabula comes last with no point collected.

Race for Golden Boot

Six players have scored two goals out of the Seventeen goals meaning the competition looks to be tight.

Isaac Ssenyunjja, Kenneth Kimera (both from Kyadondo), John Paul Dambe and Ibrahim Farid Ssekyanzi (Buluului), Martin Sseguya (Kabula) and Michael Kayongo (Ssingo).
