UYFA B13 Championship: All Systems Are Go After Vetting
Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) have successfully completed the process of vetting players ahead of the inaugural B13 Championship.
The vetting started on Sunday 31st, July 2022 in Agago District of Northern Uganda and climaxed on Sunday 7th, August 2022 in Mityana District of Buganda Region.
In a statement, the association detailed about the process, and reassured participants that the venue for the Championship is safe.
“We started the vetting process on 31st July in Agago of Northern Region and are now finalizing it here,” Said Peter Sserumaga, the head technical team
“The vetting has been so smooth and good for the players from the age of 11 to 13 years, though it has been tiresome,” he added.
“During the vetting process, Mbale academies were not vetted because of the floods, as it was hard for parents to send players to their respective academies, and thus the association decided to leave them out. A day will however be arranged to have them vetted before the kick off of the Championship,”.
“On the issue of safety of players, the association wishes to assure all parents that the venue where the National Championship will be held is safe and free from floods,” he reiterated.
Vetting started on Sunday 31st July in Agago District where Paorinher Academy was screened, before crossing to Destiny Academy in Lira.
Because of floods, Soroti Eagles Academy from Soroti of North East missed out on vetting on day one.
Day Two, which was Monday 1st, August 2022, academies like YES Academy from Busia were vetted, before Sky Sports and Excel Athletes also went through the process.
Day 3 (Tuesday 2nd, August 2022) was spent in Jinja, vetting PESTIE Academy, Msingi Academy in Mukono and Buwate Soccer Academy.
On day four (Wednesday 3rd August), Kitenga Rangers/ Superior Academy and El Cambio Academy from Masaka were vetted in the morning before proceeding to Ntungamo for The Lion Sports Academy in the afternoon, and then to Rwampara for Alfa Football Academy in the evening.
On Thursday 4th August, which was day five, the team moved to Kasese to vet Kasese Bronken before returning back to Kampala.
The process continued on Saturday at Nakivubo Blue Primary School in the morning where teams like Super Heroes from Kawempe, Della Torre from Luweero, KJT from Central, Youth Sport from Nakawa, Sparta 09 from Rubaga, Twinbrook, and Sport the Talent were vetted.
In the evening, the vetting team moved to Entebbe at Nkumba Kataka where Five Stars Academy and Garuga Academy were vetted from.
The final day was Sunday 7th August and on this day, Kick It Soccer Academy and KAYDA, based in Mityana, were vetted.
25 locally based academies will compete in the inaugural UYFA B13 final championship, in addition to one international academy in the Boys category.
For the first time in history, UYFA will also stage a tourney for the girls category, and eight (8) teams have already confirmed participation.
