FUFA Academies League: Rays of Grace Academy Wrap Up First Round With Convincing 8-0 Victory Over Watoto SA

Rays of Grace Academy wrapped up the first round of the FUFA Academies League in emphatic fashion after registering a commanding 8-0 victory over Watoto Soccer Academy on Sunday, 24th May 2026 at Kyaddondo Grounds, Wakiso.

The Njeru-based side came into the fixture determined to secure a bonus-point victory, knowing they needed to win by more than two goals, and they delivered in style with a dominant second-half performance.

Despite controlling large spells of the opening half, Rays of Grace had to wait until after the break to break the deadlock, with the first half ending goalless.

Just a minute into the second half, Denis Josey Nyombi gave Rays of Grace the lead before team captain Amos Molu doubled the advantage in the 45th minute. Molu later grabbed his second goal of the game to complete a brilliant individual performance.

Top scorer Ivan Kiganda once again stole the headlines after netting four goals to continue his outstanding scoring form this season, while Sulaiman Kaweesi and Stuart Musasizi also got on the scoresheet to complete the rout.

The victory sees Rays of Grace Academy finish the first round in third position with 25 points from nine games, just two points behind second-placed El Cambio Academy and four behind table leaders St Mary’s Kitende Sports Academy.

So far this season, Rays of Grace have scored an impressive 31 goals while conceding only eight. The team has registered seven victories, including four bonus-point wins, with their only defeats coming against El Cambio Academy on the opening day and St Mary’s Kitende Sports Academy.

By the end of the first round, Ivan Kiganda leads the scoring charts for Rays of Grace with 13 goals, followed by Amos Molu with seven goals. Joseph Borongin has scored three goals, while Elvis Ssekajugo, Sumaku Mutawakali, and Steven Sseruwaji Bbaala have each scored twice. Sulaiman Kaweesi and Denis Josey Nyombi have one goal apiece.

For starters, a bonus win in the FUFA Academies League is awarded when a team wins a match by a margin of at least two goals.

In other final-day fixtures, St Mary’s Kitende Sports Academy defeated Msingi Soccer Academy 2-0, El Cambio Academy settled for a 1-1 draw against hosts Kyaddondo Soccer Academy, Buddo Soccer Academy edged Vipers SC Academy 1-0, while Twinbrook Soccer Academy defeated Ebenzer Soccer Academy 2-1.

Fixtures for the second round in both the Buganda and Kampala groups are expected to be released soon.
