Women Football: FUFA Back on ‘Take Flight’ Project, To Organize Club Licensing Workshop For Super, Elite League Clubs

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations [FUFA], bounces back on the project that has been a bit  silent since it was launched two years back.

COVID and other issues been the stabling block for the projected key points in this move to develop Women football.

Today, the FA revealed it’s plans to  organize Women Football Club Licensing workshop for two days  aiming at proper induction of women’s football stakeholders in the top two tier Leagues (FUFA Women Super League and FUFA Women  Elite League) in Uganda.

According to Symposium, they [FUFA], Women football stakeholders had in August 2019 at Kabira Country Club, professionalising women football, holding workshops were part of the key issues.

The twelve clubs in super league and sixteen in Elite League, each will be represented by two officials in the workshop that is set for two days for each tier.

The Women Super League clubs, their workshop is slated for 30th September and 1st October and the Elite is scheduled for 4th and 5th October 2021.

The project is funded by FIFA and approved by FIFA through its Women Development Programmes following a request by FUFA to development women Football in Uganda.

The Project is built on the specific goals;  

 ✓Advance the professionalisation of the women’s game

✓Accelerate the development of the game at all levels

✓Build on existing senior league structures to strengthen participating clubs

✓To help FUFA achieve its strategic plans for this case the FUFA Women Football strategy (Take Flight)

The Project’s specific goals (above) as well as the FUFA Women Football strategy are all in line with two pillars of the FUFA Hattrick goals (The Future) and women football development thus;

Create a professional football industry

✓Achieve world class sporting excellence

The Application process: Clubs are required to submit names of the representatives for the workshop NOT later than Thursday September 23, 2021 1700HRS.
