Women Football: Certain Ingredients Lack in You, Lutalo Cut off Six As He Trims Crested Cranes Squad to 26

The Crested Cranes Head Coach, George Lutalo trimmed his squad to 26 players with five days to fly to South Africa for the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

For starters, Lutalo who is a fresh tactician in women football, summoned a squad of 32 players including four Foreign based but today, Wednesday, the tactician trimmed the team to 26.

The camp at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru now has 24 players with Yudaya Nakayenze and Shiraz Natasha yet to join the team.

The aforementioned duo will join the rest of the team in South Africa before the start of the tournament.

Fazila Ikwaput of Lady Doves was among the summoned forwards but she never went to Njeru because of the injury she acquired in the just concluded CAF Women’s Champions League zonal qualifiers where Doves secured a bronze medal.

The dropped players, include; Elsie Najjemba, custodian for Rines SS WFC, the She Maroons trio, left back, Justine Kizza Najjuuko, Elite League MVP, Joan Naggayi and Kautharah Naluyima and Grace Nassongo, midfielder for Amuria High School and Marion Amangat of Olila WFC

The team is expected to be trimmed further to a final list of 20 players.

The final squad will depart for South Africa on 27th September 2021.

The Crested Cranes are pooled in Group C alongside Zambia, Eswatini and Namibia.
