We Need To Assess You Without Interference, FUFA Asks McKinstry To Step Aside as Cranes Boss

Following Uganda Cranes poor performance in just concluded, Africa Nations Championship CHAN hosted by Cameroon, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) as asked National senior team boss, Jonathan McKinstry to step aside for a period of one month as they critically assess his performance.

“The FUFA Executive Committee has asked the Head Coach of the National Senior side-The Uganda Cranes Mr. Johnathan McKinstry to step aside from managing and coaching the team for the period from 2nd- 31st March 2021.” A press statement posted on FUFA website on Tuesday night read in parts.

Uganda displayed a poor performance in CHAN, failed to escape group stage, to which a number of Ugandan football fans left unhappy with and demanded FUFA to sack the Irishman, Jonathan McKinstry with immediate effect.

FUFA has been hesitant on tampering with McKinstry issues but today as EXCOM, sat to make a decision to let the Irishman to step aside for a month and the team that is a month away from having AFCON qualifiers double header against Burkina Faso will remain in hands of Abdallah Mubiru, Charles Livingston Mbabazi and Fred Kajoba as goalkeeping coach.

“In the meantime Assistant Coaches Mr. Mubiru Abdallah, Mr. Mbabazi Livingstone and goalkeeping coach Mr. Kajoba Fred will take charge of the team during this period.
The rest of the Technical team remains unchanged.”

“FUFA will use the period to assess and monitor the performance of the team.” A press statement from fufa website reads.
