Volleyball Women: KCCA Close In Gap Atop With a Deserved Victory Against KCB Nkumba as OBB Sails Past ESPOIR
The Kampala Capital City Authority Women Volleyball Club secured a deserved victory against KCB-NKUMBA Ladies in the encounter honored at Old Kampala Sports Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Shilla Omuriwe coached side won three straight sets though in every set, Nkumba put up strong resistance especially in the first set that ended 25-21, the second set ended 25-19 before the side sealed it with a 25-18 last set win.
The all three points victory pushed KCCA Volleyball Club to 24 points, only two behind the table leaders of regular season, Sport-S and Ndejje University who tied at 26 points with few weeks to storm the playoffs.
Shilla was impressed with the performance of her girls and revealed to this website that they are not on pressure of topping the table but their main target is to be in the top four positions that take them to playoffs.
“……we did have the charge from the weekend game and everyone knew what we needed to do, how important this game was for both of us and even Nkumba, I am glad they responded well, they didn’t respond to pressure but they come down and did what we wanted to win the game.” Shilla Omuriwe said before adding.
“Like I said our top goal is to be in top four, we are not counting that how many points we need to be in 2nd or first place, we still have three games to play, we only need to take each game at hand.” She added.
In the opening fixture of the day, the girls from Iganga, OBB Ladies found no any hurdle to humble ESPOIR VC, they beat them three sets straight and the side moved to 22 points.
Yesterday, KAVC beat VVC 3-2 and the two sides won points but KAVC walking away with two points while VVC a side in red zone settled for a point.
