USSSA Mukono District Qualifiers: ‘We want Youths not Grands’, Latifah Mixed Disqualified for Using Overaged Players, Replacement Revealed
Latifah Mixed SS has been disqualified from the 2024 USSSA Mukono district qualifiers for using ineligible players in their semifinal match played against St Julian High School Seeta Campus.
It’s no news to many that the Mukono District qualifiers boys football final was not played due to Latifah Mixed boorished behavior exhibited on Wednesday at St Josephs Naggalama in Mukono.
After losing to Latifah on semifinal, 2-1, St Julian High School petitioned the organizing committee after citing irregularities in the former’s squad. The latter won the case and they were to play against Mukono Kings on final but Latifah Mixed players refused to leave the pitch and the game was never played and until now, the organizers are yet to set a new date for the final.
On Friday, the committee came up with their final decision and revealed that Latifah Mixed had violated article 9 of the 2024 USSSA rules.
“On behalf of the Executive I want to apologize for what happened especially failure to have the boys finals.
In response to what took place especially the petition of St Juliana High School Seeta vs Latifa Mixed SS.” Statement reads
“After a case hearing and further investigations, we found Latifa guilty and in violated ofarticle 9 ( refer to USSSA rules 2024) However they have chance to provide further defence at the next level of appeal for any chance to continue in the championship.”
Therefore Latifa has been discontinued from further participation in the 2024 USSSA boys football and will now be replaced by Mpoma Royal College who by our rankings lie in the 10th position
meaning Mpoma Royal College will represent Mukono district at the Regional level.”
The two players who brought Latifah Mixed SS problems are; Kawalya Ronald and Nazir Shakib.
Seeta High School Mbalala Campus was also disqualified from the championship, the Mbalala Campus abandoned the their two group stage fixtures, they were replaced with St Johns High School Kauga.
The Greater Mukono regional qualifiers are slated to take place on 13th and 14th April at four different playgrounds.
Greater Mukono will be represented by three schools in Nationals slated for late this month at Masaka SS.
