USSSA Ball Games 2026 Netball: Greater Masaka Champions Kaddugala, St. Jerome Make Winning Starts

Greater Masaka girls’ Netball champions Kaddugala Secondary School opened their 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games II campaign with a hard-fought 19-15 victory over Ibun Baz on the opening day of the championship in Gulu City.
The victory gives the Masaka-based side an early advantage in Group O as they chase a historic first-ever qualification to the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games.
Kaddugala, who earned their place at the nationals after winning the Greater Masaka championship, are drawn in Group O alongside Ibun Baz, St. Andrew’s, St. Mary’s Rushoroza, Lira Town College and Kyotera Parents.
St. Jerome also enjoyed a winning start, edging Nankabirwa Memorial 23-21 in one of the closely contested matches of the day.
Elsewhere, Buddo Secondary School underlined their title defense with back-to-back victories, thrashing Iganga Secondary School 44-5 before beating Busia Secondary School 33-11. Baptist High School posted the biggest win of the day after demolishing Premier City 50-5, while Kyotera Parents overwhelmed St. Mary’s Rushoroza 50-2 and Trinity Catholic hammered Moroto Secondary School 44-2.
Bukedea Comprehensive and Kyantamba played out the tournament’s first draw after settling for a 22-22 stalemate, while Maryhill and Great Aubrey also shared the spoils in a 20-20 draw.
The championship continues on Saturday with more group stage fixtures as schools battle for places in the knockout rounds and qualification to the FEASSA Games.
