Uganda Martyrs: Nakasi Latifa Reveals Ambitious Target for This Season
Latifa Nakasi is one of the few strikers that have had a bright start to the 2022/23 FUFA Women Super League (FWSL), netting six (6) goals from eight (8) matches played.
However, she says she has got an even bigger dream to chase for, this season, that is, scoring fourteen (14) goals.
Despite missing the first game against Rines in Lubaga due to an injury, Latifa remained calm and held back for the right time to come.
Just one week later, she welcomed and utilize her spell in the team well, scoring a brace against Asubo-Gafford Ladies in the game played in Kanyanya to set course for her seasonal target.
In an exclusive interview with this website, the Uganda Martyrs Ladies striker revealed the ultimate seasonal target and made it clear that she won’t stop at anything to achieve it.
“My target is to score fourteen (14) goals for my team this season. I might not be playing in the best team with the best players in the league, but I will try to score in every match in order to have my dream come true,” Latifa said.
“Scoring the remaining eight goals might look easy but it comes about and involves a lot of hardwork and team work to achieve the success. I have so far scored six goals, and I will hope to build on those goals to continue scoring more,” Latifa added.
Latifa has not only tried to be consistent in scoring goals but also bringing in assists, helping her team get maximum points against different league opponents.
Latifa couldn’t forget to express gratitude for her teammates, coaches and the director of the school (Uganda Martyrs).
“I also want to take this chance to say thank you to the director of my school, coaches and the players for always pushing me and working with me to make sure that I achieve my target of the season. I know I am not yet there, but with hardwork and team work, I will achieve it,” Latifa promised herself.
“I would like to continue and request my players to remain focused and exhibit the same spirit we showed in the first round [of the league],” Latifa added.
The Lubaga-based side (Uganda Martyrs) sit in second position with nineteen (19) points, eight (8) below current league leaders, Kampala Queens.
