Uganda Decides 2026: Kyagulanyi Defiant, Blasts ‘Mafia Abductions’ as Busoga Crowns Him People’s Son”

National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) stormed Busoga on Friday with fire in his words and warmth in his welcome.
Even as his campaign was marred by the shocking abduction of two Kenyan human rights activists in Kireka, Bobi Wine told cheering supporters that no amount of intimidation would derail the struggle for change.
“Our friends came to stand in solidarity with us. Their abduction is proof of the system’s fear of change. But let it be known—we shall not be cowed. A NEW UGANDA is coming,” he declared, sparking chants of “People Power, Our Power!”
Busoga’s Homecoming Embrace
In Iganga, the red-carpet spirit of homecoming was unmistakable. Bobi Wine visited the homestead of his late relative Salim Bwagu in Kasolo village, reminding supporters of his shared roots in both Buganda and Busoga.
Locals, some in tears, hailed him as their son. Mama Namatovu, an elderly villager, said:
“He is one of us. That is why we trust he will lead with a heart for the people.”
Blockades Fuel the Fire
Security blockades forced the campaign onto dusty back routes, but instead of discouraging supporters, the move lit a fire. Crowds spilled onto dirt roads, waving branches and chanting freedom songs as the convoy passed.
A youth from Iganga shouted:
“Even if they close the roads, we shall walk with him. Bobi Wine is the people’s road to freedom.”
Unstoppable Wave
From Iganga to Mayuge, Bobi Wine’s message of defiance and hope rang clear. By calling the abductions “mafia-style” and tying his struggle to family and community, he sharpened the contrast between a system built on fear and a movement rooted in love.
“They fear him because he is loved. And he is loved because he is one of us,” said a youth leader in Iganga.
Busoga’s thunderous welcome showed it all — the movement is not only alive but surging. Abductions, blockades, and intimidation only feed its fire.
The message from Busoga is unshakable: “A New Uganda Now.”
