Rude Awakening, King Ceasor Thrashed on Pepsi League Debut as IUIU Writes Fresh Records

Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) dished out a ruthless introduction to King Ceasor University, thumping the newcomers 3–0 in the Pepsi University Football League clash played on Friday at the IUIU Kayembe Grounds in Mbale.
Star forward Obwana Eric was the tormentor-in-chief, striking twice in the first half before skipper Imam Shafik Kawooya finished the visitors off with a cheeky back-heel goal in the 67th minute.
The debutants showed early promise, forcing a scare in the 4th minute, but from then on it was one-way traffic. The pace and power of Emmanuel Shinkanga down the left flank tore the King Ceasor defense apart. His teasing cross in the 16th minute allowed Faisal Mumali to head down for Obwana to nod home the opener.
Ten minutes later, Shinkanga delivered again—this time Faraji Mugambe flicked on for Obwana, who doubled the lead with another header.
By halftime, the newcomers looked nervous and disjointed, surviving only through the sharp reflexes of their goalkeeper Nuwarinda Gribone.
King Ceasor made changes after the break and enjoyed brief spells of possession but lacked bite in the final third. Their resilience was finally shattered when Kawooya stylishly back-heeled in the third, sealing IUIU’s biggest win since 2018.
The result puts IUIU top of Group E with three points and a healthy goal advantage. The Pepsi University Football League resumes Saturday with Busitema University hosting Soroti University.
