The fifth season of the Uganda Boxing Champions League (UBCL) is set to return with a bang, blending elite boxing action with exciting fan rewards as the competition officially gets underway on May 9th at Obligato in Kampala.
Organised by the Uganda Boxing Federation, the UBCL has steadily grown into a cornerstone of Uganda’s boxing calendar since its launch in December 2021. The league was introduced to provide consistent competitive opportunities, elevate the profile of amateur boxing, and showcase the country’s rising talent on a national stage.
This year’s season will run through to December 26th (Boxing Day), culminating in a grand finale where champions in each weight category will be crowned and awarded championship belts alongside other prizes.
Beyond the action in the ring, fans have plenty to look forward to off it. Organisers have unveiled a range of incentives aimed at boosting fan engagement throughout the season. Spectators who purchase ordinary tickets priced at Shs20,000 will automatically be entered into raffle draws, with prizes including kettles, toasters, electric fans, flat irons, rice cookers, shopping hampers, and mobile phones.
In a headline-grabbing development, the federation has also announced a grand prize for premium supporters. Fans who secure VIP tables at Shs500,000 will be entered into a season-long draw, with one lucky winner set to drive away with a brand new car at the end of the campaign in December.
The initiative underscores the federation’s efforts to professionalise the sport while enhancing the overall matchday experience, turning UBCL into not just a sporting contest but a full entertainment package.
With months of competition ahead and stakes higher than ever, the 2026 UBCL season promises a thrilling journey for both fighters and fans alike.
