The Race Still tight as National Aquatic Championship Nears Climax

With only a day left to complete the Uganda Aquatics National Championships at Kampala Parents School, there is little to separate the teams.

The points and table standings, after three days of the competition, remain guarded and a preserve of the competitions desk at the championship.

But from the performance in the pool on the third day, Adams Aya, from Aqua Akii, won the 10 & Under girls’ 100 metre freestyle.

Natabi Denorah from Sailfish Swim Club won the girls’ 10 & Under 100 metre breastroke.

For the boys in this age group, Wanyama Austin from Jaguar and Batuk Raan from Silverfin Academy won the events mentioned above.

In the 200 mixed freestyle relay in this age group, Dolphins were joined by Silverfin and Aqua Akii on the podium.

In the girls’ 11-12 age group, Nakato Jinan from Dolphins won the 100 metres freestyle while Nisha Pearl Najjuma from Otters won the 100 metre breaststroke and 200 metre backstroke races.

For the boys’ 11-12, Marc Kaliisa from defending champions, Gators won the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke while the 100m breaststroke was won by Silverfin’s Bwisho Kristian Mugumya. Silverfin also won the mixed freestyle

Suubi Peyton Mary won the gold in the 100m freestyle for the girls aged 13-14 while her teammate from Jaguar Mbanga Zara Marie won the 100m breaststroke and 200m backstroke. Gators’ Abdou Hakim S also won the same events in this boys’ age category while Kaweesa Jonathan from Torpedoes won the 100m freestyle. Altona won the relay.

In the girls’ 15-16 age group, Tara Kisawuzi from Gators, Inell Raya Ba from Silverfin, and Kirabo Paloma from Gators won the 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, and 200m backstroke races respectively. Ssengooba Ethani and his Gators teammate Inhensiko Peterson won the 100m freestyle and breaststroke, respectively, while Usadadiya Heer took gold in 200m backstroke. Gators won the relay.

Kaumi Tendo won the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke in the boys’ 17 & Over age group. His teammate from Dolphins Aziku Ian won the 100m breaststroke event.

For the girls, Katemba Karimah from Aquatic Academy, Sanford Charlotte from Sailfish, and Mubiru Swagiah from Gators won the 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, and 200m backstroke in the girls’ 17 and Over age group. Aqua Akii won the relay.
