The Cry is over, Finance Trust Bank Releases Shs250m to FUFA for 2025/26 Women’s Football Season

Finance Trust Bank has released Shs250 million to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to facilitate women’s football competitions for the 2025/26 season.

According to a publication by the Daily Monitor, the funds will support the Women Super League and the Women Elite League as part of the bank’s ongoing sponsorship package.

Finance Trust Bank and FUFA entered a five-year partnership worth Shs2 billion, under which the bank commits to releasing Shs400 million annually. Of the yearly contribution, Shs250 million is allocated directly to the two leagues, while Shs100 million caters for the Women’s Football Annual Bonanza. The remaining Shs50 million is reserved for sponsorship-related activities.

The bank’s Head of Communications and Marketing, Percy Lubega, confirmed the disbursement of the funds, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to the growth and professionalisation of women’s football in Uganda.

Beyond the direct financial support to FUFA and its member clubs, Finance Trust Bank also rewards individual excellence. The Player of the Match receives Shs50,000, while the Player of the Month in the Elite League earns Shs250,000 and her Super League counterpart takes home Shs500,000. The Coach of the Month in the Elite League and Super League receives Shs250,000 and Shs500,000 respectively.

This marks the second season of the five-year sponsorship agreement, a partnership that continues to inject much-needed financial backing into Uganda’s women’s football structures.
