Team Uganda Steps Up FEASSA Preparations as USSSA Unveils Final Roadmap for Tanzania Campaign

With the countdown to the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games continuing, the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has held its final preparatory meeting, rallying schools and officials to embrace unity, discipline and proper planning ahead of the regional championship in Morogoro, Tanzania.
The meeting focused on guiding stakeholders through the official roadmap for Team Uganda’s participation, including key deadlines, travel arrangements, team confirmation, payment requirements, accreditation and general preparations for the games.
Speaking on behalf of USSSA President Mr. Justus Mugisha, the association’s First Vice President Ms. Harriet Apolot thanked members for the continued confidence and support following the leadership’s re-election.
Apolot called on officials and team members to seek timely assistance whenever they encounter challenges, emphasizing that unity would be key to Uganda’s success at the championship.
“Do not wait until it is too late to seek help if you are facing any challenges. Reach out to those who can support you so that we leave here united as one team,” Apolot said.
She also wished Team Uganda a successful campaign in Tanzania, adding: “For God and My Country; for school sports, for better.”
USSSA Chief Executive Officer Mr. Christopher Banage used the meeting to emphasize the importance of strict adherence to preparations and timelines, saying every stakeholder has a role to play in ensuring a smooth and successful participation.
“Our priority is to ensure a safe, organized, and successful journey to the FEASSA Games. Every team must comply with the travel guidelines and complete all registration and accreditation requirements,” Banage said.
He confirmed that the FEASSA draws involving all member countries will be conducted on 6 August at the USSSA National Offices, marking another key stage in Uganda’s preparations.
The roadmap indicates that teams are expected to submit team lists, vehicle details and officials’ information by 4 August, receive official apparel and kits between 6–7 August, before Team Uganda is flagged off on 8 August.
The delegation will depart Kampala for the Busia border on 9 August, have a stopover in Arusha, Tanzania, on 10 August, and arrive in Morogoro on 11 August ahead of the official opening of the games on 13 August.
The championship will run until 22 August when the Ugandan delegation is expected to depart Morogoro.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports (PES), Ms. Grace Abalo, through her message to participants, urged Team Uganda to uphold discipline, professionalism and national pride throughout the tournament.
“As we prepare for the FEASSA Games, I urge all participants to remain disciplined, uphold professionalism, and represent Uganda with pride,” Abalo said.
She tasked team leaders with ensuring all travel and health requirements are met, enforcing the prescribed dress code and keeping students away from drugs.
“Let us work together to uphold the values of Team Uganda and strive for excellence both on and off the field. When we succeed, we uplift our country,” she added.
The 2026 FEASSA Games will bring together secondary school teams from across East Africa, with Uganda hoping to build on its strong tradition in regional school sports.
