SUPL: Villa on Cloud 9, Ssenkatuka Punishes10-man Struggling Arua Hill
The Startimes Uganda Premier League matchday nine kicked off today with two superb games as SC Villa edged Busoga United at home and Soltilo Bright Stars defeated Arua Hill in Kavumba.
Nelson Ssenkatuka’s hat trick was enough to seal a 3-1 victory for Bright Stars overs Arua Hill while Umar Lutalo’s first half lone goal sealed SC Villa’s win against Busoga United.
After a 2-1 comeback win for Vicent Lukyamuzi’s side against KCCA FC last week, they narrowly lost 1-0 to SC Villa this evening. In just five minutes into the game, Patrick Kakande was fouled in the forbidden area and a penalty was awarded.
Umar Lutalo was denied from the spot by goalkeeper Salim Wekiya to keep the game all square.
In the 19th minute, Busoga’s Fredrick Ngalo cleared the ball on the line however, a minute later, Patrick Kakande brilliantly controlled the ball inside the box, beat his opponent and neatly assisted Lutalo who smashed the ball at the back of the net to put the hosts in the lead.
Before the break, Charles Lwanga saw his two wonderful shots saved by the Busoga United goalkeeper Salim Wekiya.
At the early stages of the game, SC Villa’s youngster Patrick Kakande stunning shot inside the box was incredibly saved by goalkeeper Salim Wekiya.
Substitute Ivan Bogere almost doubled the lead but his powerful shot was denied by the goal post.
With only quarter a hour to the end of the game, in-form Ronald Ssekiganda doubled the lead with a screamer. Ssekiganda jumped and controlled with his left leg to beat the opponent and had time to concentrate and took a powerful shot to find the back of the net.
This was SC Villa’s fourth win against Busoga United in seven meetings in the Uganda Premier League history.
Elsewhere, Nelson Ssenkatuka netted a hat-trick as his team Soltilo Bright Stars beat 10-man Arua Hill 3-1 at Kavumba Recreation Ground.

The goal poacher saw his three goals secure three points for Bright Stars and also climbed at the top of scorer’s chart with seven (7) goals ahead of BUL FC’s Alex Kitata.
Ibrahim Musa scored the consolation for Arua Hill as they suffered their sixth loss of the season.
Yusuf Makhutum received a straight red card.
The matchday nine continues tomorrow with three exciting fixtures, Gaddafi FC will visit struggling KCCA FC, hungry URA FC will be welcoming Express FC while table leaders BUL FC, will visit struggling Wakiso Giants.
