Stanbic Uganda Cup: ‘You Can’t Be Salongo This Season’, Ssempigi Vows to Cut Short Vipers Quest for Double
The four remaining teams in the 2022 Stanbic Uganda Cup edition jointly on Monday at FUFA House Mengo held a press briefing to express their readiness for the semifinal fixtures scheduled between 11th and 12th May 2022.
The draws that were held a week back indicated that the defending champions, Vipers Sports Club will be the first visitors at Kakyeka as they are playing against Mbarara City FC.
Mbarara City’s tactician revealed that he has only one target, that is to reach at the finals despite the fact that they well know how heavy and tough his opponents are;
“We are much aware of how our opponents are, we have much respect but we have the best strategy to go through that game. We think we shall give the game the right demand and we see ourselves to the final. Our main objective is to play the finals and our players are prepared for the game.”
The Vipers tactician, Roberto believes it’s a great opportunity for Kitende Boys to achieve their target of scooping a double this season since they are already champions of Premier league.
“We now have the opportunity to win three titles, the Uganda Cup last year, the Premier league and again retain the Uganda cup.” It’s our objective to win trophies but I respect much mu colleague, opponent and friend.” Mbarara City have a strong team but we have the experience and I trust much my team.”
“Our objective is to be champions again and also put up nice performances on the pitch.” Stated Robertinho
Booma FC is the only lower division side still in the cup at this level and their coach, Fred Arinaitwe couldnt hide the excitement.
“We are so happy to reach the semifinals for the first time and it’s an achievement for the club.” We respect BUL FC since they are a topflight division side but our journey has not been easy and we have faced a lot of challenges.” This is also another test for us but we are determined to reach the finals of the competition.” said Fred Arinaitwe.
Assistant coach for BUL FC Richard Kasule also revealed their need to get back to final again.
“We are an organized team and ready to face any side in the competition.”
We are not going to defend, we are to attack and make sure that we score more goals to prevail to the final.”
This is the second time for us to reach the Semifinal. Last time we advanced to the final. We are set for the encounter tomorrow.”
“Our strategy tomorrow is not to concede away from home and at least score a goal in the encounter and we hope to finish the game at home. Football is a game and not a walk over so we have to be very cautious about our opponents.” They have come along way, they have conceded the least goals in the game and it won’t be an easy game but we believe we shall have the last laugh.”
Tomorrow, will be the first leg.
