Stanbic Uganda Cup: Kampala Region Draw Sets Football Classroom on the Road as Preliminary Journey Begins

The road to the 52nd edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup officially kicked off on Monday as the Kampala Region Football Association (KRFA) conducted draws for the preliminary round at the FUFA Stadium in Kadiba.
This year’s edition marks another milestone for the competition, with the number of participating teams in the Kampala Region increasing from 48 last season to 56, a reflection of the tournament’s expanding appeal among lower-tier and community clubs.
Last season’s surprise package, Football Classroom, who impressed by reaching the Round of 64, will begin their campaign away from home after being drawn against Kayda Sports Club. Football Classroom was placed in Pot Two due to their strong performance in the previous edition, while Pot One consisted of non-league, sixth-division, and fifth-division sides—each granted hosting rights for the one-legged preliminary fixtures.
The draw ceremony was officiated by KRFA chairman Dirisa Kasalirwe, region’s delegate Kabugo Mansoor, alongside FUFA Competitions Director Hajjat Aisha Nalule, who urged participating clubs to adhere strictly to tournament regulations to ensure smooth competition.
According to organizers, the final fixture schedule will be released before close of business on Monday, with matches set to kick off on 5th December 2025. All ties will be decided in a single-leg format, and in the event of a draw, the winner will be determined via penalty shootouts.
