St Mark High School Kayunga Catches Big Fish, Signs Felix Ssekabuuza As Head Coach

St. Mark High School Kayunga has made a decisive move to strengthen its football technical bench by appointing renowned tactician Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza as head coach.

The appointment of Ssekabuuza, a CAF B-licensed coach, underscores the school’s commitment to elevating its football standards and providing its student-athletes with elite mentorship. His arrival marks a new chapter for the Kayunga-based institution, which has shown steady progress over the past three years but continues to chase its long-awaited breakthrough to the national stage.

According to information obtained by Voice of Bugerere Media, the school administration has signed Ssekabuuza on a two-year contract, entrusting him with the responsibility of transforming the team into a formidable force within the Mukono zone and beyond.

Ssekabuuza brings an impressive résumé. He guided St. Julian High School to their maiden National Championship at the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Associations (USSSA) boys’ football finals last year, defeating Amus College School 3–0 in Masaka.

He is also celebrated for steering Buweekula Ssaza to their first-ever Buganda Masaza Cup title, overcoming Ssingo in the final played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

For the past three seasons, St. Mark High School has consistently reached the Mukono Zone qualifiers but fallen short of advancing to the nationals. Last year, they were eliminated at the quarterfinal stage after a narrow 1–0 loss to Mehta Secondary School.

Ssekabuuza’s immediate mission is clear: to lead St. Mark to their historic first appearance at the USSSA Nationals.

The 2026 USSSA U20 Boys Football Championship will be hosted by Lira Town School, giving St. Mark High School a fresh target and renewed motivation under their new tactician.
