Ssekiboobo Cup: Musaale Nagojje takes Bragging Rights in Opener

For starters, the Buganda Kingdom Sports Minister, Owek. Robert Sserwanga Ssalongo officially flagged off the Gombolola Cup 2024 on 27tb at Kajjansi Clays playground in Busiro. 

Since then, different Masaza that make up Buganda Kingdom have been kicking off their respective tournaments and today, Sunday, 04th, February, 2024, Kyaggwe kicked off their Ssekiboobo Cup at St Peters Namagunga. 

The opening fixture, saw Musaale Nagojje finding no hurdle to beat Mutuba IX Goma 3-1.  

Musaale Nagojje’s goals were scored by Musoke Asuman and Mubiru Umar had a brace on the day while Mutuba IX Goma’s lone goal came from Kibirige Richard.

Mubiru Umar of Nagojje was declared player of the match.

The Ssekiboobo (Ssaza Chief), who witnessed the opener, thanked teams for the level of talent displayed and further requested all other Ggombololas to up preparations to ensure an entertaining competition from start to end.

Bbombokka Joseph, the chairperson of the youth arm in Kyaggwe rallied Ggombolola leaders to fulfill all requirements or participation, which will make the competition smooth. He further rallied all youths to mobilise massively and receive the minister of Youth, Sports and the Art who is scheduled to visit Kyaggwe on 11th February 2024. 

This cup have 14 teams grouped in four groups of four and three.

The final of Ssekiboobo Cup will be honored on 6th April 2024 at a venue to be communicated.

The Kyaggwe’s next fixtures will be played on 10th February 2024 with for games in groups A, B and C.
