UOC Presidency: UBF Boss, Moses Muhangi Admits,It’s true I have Intentions to contest
Uganda Boxing Federation president, Moses Muhangi finally revealed his intention to contest for Uganda Olympic Committee presidency in the elections set to be held in late February 2021.
The outspoken administrator, told this website that he has all the qualifications needed to stand for presidency.
“Being a President of the federation (UBF) that is under UOC it means I am eligible to stand at any post in that committee and the other qualifications they need, I have them so none can stop me from contesting when I desire too.” Moses Muhangi told this website.
Muhangi is saying that it’s true he has intentions to replace, President William Blick whose term has expired and he is not standing again.
“It’s true I have intentions to contest because when I am in such big offices, it means serving my federation the more.” Muhangi told this website before adding. “However my intentions currently are not so serious because UOC still adamant to release the updated voter register.”
Few days back, the Uganda Olympic Committee released the roadmap for elections, but did not reveal the updated voters’ register. So Muhangi and others who may want to contest for different don’t know who is eligible to vote and not, which may disturb their intentions and preparations for the forthcoming elections.
“UOC released the roadmap, now we know the process for nominations, when to vote but they did not release the updated voters’ register.
It’s UOC that knows the federations they are in good stand with and those not in Good stand, so as person who has intentions to stand, I would like to know who is eligible and whether I am or not eligible to stand. It’s only the register that can help me, we are remaining with less than three weeks to elections but they are still adamant to display the register putting my ambitions in balance.” Muhangi explains.
Muhangi also commented about the delaying tactic of Mr. Blick for releasing information to federations, and he wondered how Blick released information to media about the cancellation of Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers in France before informing the federation in charge.
