The National Unity Platform principal and former presidential aspirant, Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine at his home today has hosted the European Union delegation to discuss more about Peace and justice in Uganda.
This is not the first time the EU delegation visits Kyagulanyi, but this time round the visit came when Kyagulanyi had just petitioned the Supreme Court about the fraudulent that occurred in the 2021 presidential general elections.
This morning we hosted the European Union delegation in Uganda. At the meeting, we appreciated the EU for supporting Uganda’s efforts towards democratization and the greater respect for human rights. We reiterated the position which we have maintained from the start that we are a non-violent political organization, but added that peace must as of necessity be accompanied by justice.
Ugandans are demanding for transparency and accountability after the January 14th election and we shall continue using all lawful avenues to reclaim and assert the will of the people. We hope that all Ugandans and friends of Uganda will continue to push for these timeless values in word and action- democracy, good governance and the rule of law.” Kyagulanyi posted on his facebook page.
This meeting had come after the news circulated that the president of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has tasked the Minister for Finance to suspend the works and operations of the multi donor fund organization, called Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) until the cabinet make review about the £100M fund that they suspect to be financing irregularities in the country.
The Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) was established in July 2011 by eight Development Partners including Austria, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom and the European Union and it has been funding over 50 state and non state organisations in Uganda.
