Sponsorship: Plascon Love For She Cranes Is Still Intact, Fuels The Marriage with More 100M
The relationship between She Cranes and Plascon Uganda continues to grow strong.
With 23 days to the most prestigious tournament in the game of netball (World Cup 2023), Plascon Uganda has unveiled a fresh package of Uganda shillings 100 million for She Cranes as the team is getting ready for Netball World Cup that is due from 28th July to 06th August 2023 in Cape Town South Africa.
The two first when in partnership in 2022 ahead of Commonwealth games held in Birmingham City in England, and according to the Company’s Managing Director, Santosh Gumte, thy saw it important to continue the relationship with She Cranes because they are doing well and it adds up at developing women’s sport in Uganda.
“In any investment and partnership we engage, we purposefully ensure the women are also at the fore. We ensure they are well represented and supported. Particularly in sports, a huge number of them have made the country very proud both in the past and recent times,” said Mr. Gumte.
Under its ongoing Twaake campaign, rallying fans in all sports disciplines to support their respective teams, Plascon has launched another campaign; She Cranes Twaake, meant to rally support for the team before, during and after the tournament.
“When the brand rallies fans to follow and support the She Cranes, it has to lead from the front. It has to put money where its mouth is. For this particular time-period, through the She Cranes Twaake campaign, we are calling upon all Ugandans to follow and support the girls on all media platforms, buy and wear the jersey. We shall have a number of activations especially online to engage the fans,” said the Plascon brand manager Daniel Kayongo.
Reacting to Plascon’s support, the Uganda Netball Federation CEO Francis Banya thanked the brand for once again standing with the team pledging that the girls are ready to fly the Black, Yellow, Red flag and make the country proud.
“Last year while the team prepared for the Commonwealth games, Plascon committed tangible support to the girls. And partly because of the gesture, the girls put on a praiseworthy show at the games. The World Cup will not be any different. With this support, we promise a show that will make every Ugandan proud,” said Banya.
The 16-team showpiece has the She Cranes pooled in Group D alongside Singapore, Trinidad & Tobago and New Zealand the defending champions.
But the team head coach Francis Mugerwa is un phased by the early stern tests reasoning that;
“This is what is expected at a World Cup. You have to play the best to emerge the best. Every team has earned its slot. Every opponent is tough. We only have to be concerned about our preparation and so far so good. We have had a number of trial games and the girls are progressing very well.”
The 2023 Netball World Cup marks the first time the tournament will be held in Africa and this year’s tournament is the third successive one Uganda will be competing at.
