She Cranes Stars Inspire Students of Sacred Heart SS, School Administration Vows to Revive Netball
The Uganda Netball Federation while using the National team, the She Cranes as their wheel on their pursuit to spread the game of netball to all corners of the nation, on Sunday they visited Sacred Heart Secondary School-Gulu to preach the gospel of the game.
The She Cranes are on the regional tours to different regions of the country and Gulu was the hosting city for Northern region.
The She Cranes stars advised the girls to take their talents as another priority apart from academics because the two can move hand in hand.
Sacred Heart is one of the giant schools in other sports in the country like football, basketball and athletics but netball has died out according to the school’s Head mistress, Sister Lamuno Hellen.
“We are a giant school in the region when it comes to sports, schools from Lira, Kitgum, and areas in this Acholi sub region, always plan to defeat us but they failed.” The Jolly Sister started.
” When I joined this school, I found the netball courts but they were dormant, I don’t know what happened but since you have come here, we are going to revive the sport, because you have now inspired us and the girls.” Sister Lamuno Hellen vowed while addressing She Cranes team at her school.
She Cranes assistant captain, Joan Nampungu, Stella Oyella and Irene Eyaru the daughters of Northern Uganda were among those who spoke on behalf of the rest as they inspire the students not to sit on their talents.
“The death of my father while in primary one it has inspired me to join netball, we didn’t have money for school fees, only my talent was their to stand in for me, it has taught me until I finished campus, another thing, in our village, it was rare for me to see a car, so I was told that netball can help me to sit in a car while traveling, now I am using planes to go abroad and all that is netball, so netball is a sport that can move you nations, study as well as taking your talent as something very important.” Irene Eyaru inspired the students.
While speaking to this website, She Cranes goal shooter, Stella Oyella asserted that as the daughters of the region have to get back home to inspire the girls of the region.
“We played against the girls of my region, it’s a pleasure that I came back home, the girls have talent but they lack training, skills, so it’s upon us the daughters of the region to come back to inspire as well as to help the girls.” Oyella Stella noted.
Later in the day, the She Cranes completed their fourth tour with three friendly matches with Northern region teams.

The next tour for the She Cranes is on 3rd July 2022 in West Nile, Arua City.
Then it will finalize it’s tours in Kampala on 8th July 2022.
