Not like the previous years when football competitions were on a high in primary schools country wide especially in second term, with the shift of focus from co-circular activities to mainly academics, talent development at grassroots went to a low.
Basing on that research, Africa Junior School from Bulenga – Kampala thought it wise and important to introduce a primary school football tournament dubbed Emiti Emito Football Tournament which is set to be held on 10th August 2024 at the school premises.
On the tournament launch at the school premises, head teacher Maguma Hakim revealed that this tournament which is looking at developing talents in primary schools especially those in Bulenga, Nankuwadde and Kikaaya is to be held every year.

“We have organized this tournament to improve on the talents of our children, this tournament is looking at children below the age of 13 years, it’s free of charge, so I encourage head teachers to bring their children to participate in this tournament, we have got the facilities and therefore we looked into this and thought we can start this because most of schools now days put much focus on academics and forget the talents of the children. ” Said Africa Junior School head teacher, Magumba Hakim.
Out of the ten schools they want to start with, already two, that’s Lincoln and White Angles Primary school have confirmed their participation.

“I call other schools to come and participate in the championship that has been organized by Africa Junior School because this is good to us all, and also the pupils of our schools because sports is part of physical exercise.” Nakawunde Josephine of Lincoln school.
Adam Masembe, head coach, Africa Junior School revealed that they want to win the Inaugural tournament.

“We’re always ready especially when it comes to football, of course we expect resistance but we shall try our best to see that we don’t shame our school.” Adam Masembe, Head Coach Africa Junior School.
