Rotary 5-a-side Championship Launched, Kiwatule to Host

The 8th edition of the Rotary 5-a-side football championship has been launched on Saturday at Kati Kati Restaurant Lugogo and 25 million is at stake for winners.
Kiwatule Rotary club won the bid to host the championship slated to take place on Saturday 20th July, 2024 at Phillip Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
For starters, this championship started in 2015 and it is played by the Rotary clubs in Uganda and the corporate companies.
Kitakule Geoffrey, who represented the guest of honor, District Governor, Ms. Nkutu Anne commended the initiative that brings the Rotarians and Rotractors together to have fun as well as raising funds to help the less advantaged.
“The rotary 5-a-side football tournament is a wonderful activity that demonstrates the magic of rotary in that it brings together the Rotarians and Rotractors and Corporates to have fun while at the same time raising funds.”
According to Winnie Babihuga, President, Kiwatule Rotary Club, the 5-a-side football tournament that started in 2015, it has raised 137 million shillings that was used to run the community service projects that help the less advantaged in Uganda.
“We are excited to be launching yet another edition of the rotary 5-a-side football tournament which we have been holding since 2015. Over the last seven editions, we have raised 137M that went to the less advantaged in our community.” Says Winnie Babihuga.
The organizer of the Pepsi University Football League, Obal Atubo is the chairperson organizing committee of the 8th edition and he believes the turn up will be massive compared the previous one that Kampala Sunshine won.
In the rotary category, the winner will walk away with 5 million shillings for Service projects, 3 million to first runner, third place winner takes 2 Million and the fourth will win one million shillings.
In the Rotractors, the trophy winner will take two million shillings, second with 1.5 million.
The corporate category winner will take three million shillings, and the runners up will take two million.
