Mukono District League: Dan Birikwalira’s Kyetume United Crowned, Takes a Bull Home

The two Mukono District Football Association leagues, the 4th and 5th division have climaxed on Saturday at Nakifuma Ssaza grounds.
Kyetume United FC that side that is under the stewardship of former Vipers SC left fullback, Dan Birikwalira lifted the 4th division trophy after beating Nantabulirwa FC 4-3 via spot kicks following a goalless draw in normal time.
The game which was attended by the Buganda region chairperson person and a FUFA delegate, Andrew Kaweesa, (guest of honor), Buganda region Zone one chairperson, Yenka Daniel, Kyaggwe Sazza manager, Micdad Mulimira and other dignitaries of Buganda region football was an end to end encounter though no goal was registered in the entire 90 minutes.
Kyetume United who topped the Mabira Group with 36 points was crowned the Champion of the division, won gold medals, trophy, set of jersey courtesy of Mukono DFA and a bull in one million shillings cash, courtesy of Buganda region chairperson, Andrew Kaweesa.
“It has been a tough journey but we have managed to win this, now the focus turned to the Mini zonal league and we want to qualify to the next level.” Say Dan Birikwalira, Kyetume United head coach.
The guest of honor and the chairperson Buganda region, Andrew Kaweesa, thanked Mukono District Football Association for staging a wonderful climax of the competitive league and continued to promise to support the game in Mukono.
“…..it’s not because he is here, but I want to commend Mahad Kivumbi (Mukono DFA chairperson) for staging a wonderful final, i supported gim when he was coming to lead football in Mukono and he has never disappointed.” Kaweesa commended Kivumbi in his speech.
“About the bull, when I came in as the Buganda chairperson, I promised that every team that wins a trophy, will get a bull and I keep my promise.” Says after awarding Kyetume a bull in the envelope.
The chairperson Mukono DFA revealed that to have a wonderful climax wasn’t a walk in the park.
“The good thing is that we have climaxed the league with not serious complaints, the teams have been so competitive but as you know, the football at grassroots has no money, we pick from our pockets, so I ask sponsors to come even on the ground to give a head because the most challenge we have is financial.” Said Kivumbi.
Earlier on, Nyenje FC beat Kimera United 1-0 in the playoff game before Golden Impact beat Of Yale SS FC 3-2 to lift the 5th division trophy.
The winners and runners up walked away with balls, medals and sets of jersey.
