Record TV officially Closes Business in Uganda

One of the longest serving broadcasting come, Record Television has officially closed today.

The rumors has been circulating that the Station ran bankrupt and soon it’s closing.

Today while addressing the press briefing at the station head office in Kamwokya, the Company Managing Director, Motsoeneng Ezekiel revealed that the station has officially closed and COVID-19 Pandemic has greatly affected their business in Uganda and Europe where many of stakeholders base.

“COVID-19 has caused us a lot of damages especially the company stakeholders who live in Europe, the Company will pay everything, the debt, workers will be paid, we are not closing because of creditors so we are going to pay everyone demanding us.

since 2005 in Uganda, we have been one of the longest serving broadcasting services in Uganda. we thank our viewers, advertisers, workers, especially the presenters, we have a good staff but we are going to let them go. We could have done more, but it was not our discussion but it was taken by the shareholders of the group.” MD.

The station currently had 32 staff members that has been affected by the closure of the station but the company is saying they are going to Carter for them, and they have started recommending them to join other media outlets.

Record Television has been in business for 67 years, but the Brazil originated Broadcasters, joined TV business in Uganda in 2005. 

The station which has its bosses both in Brazil and Europe, is operating in now 16 countries now Uganda exclusive.
