Phase two of USSSA Capacity Building Workshop Set off, Officially Launched

The second phase of Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association training workshop has been officially launched on Monday 30th, January, 2023 by the Ministry of Education and Sports Director of directorate of Education standards.

USSSA took the mandate to educate teachers and students to take the stewardship of their sports disciplines.

The five days training workshop underway at Kibuli Secondary School is educating the teachers and students on how to manage; Basketball, football coaching, handball, volleyball, athletics Netball coaching, umpiring, refereeing and media studies.

While giving his speech before the guest of honor, USSSA president Mr Justus Mugisha highlighted the importance of the workshop towards the development of sports in schools and the country at large.

“This workshop is a component under talent identification and development, so here we have teachers and students.
There are some sports which are only in Kampala, so we are working on educating teachers to go and teach it throughout the country.

Dear our chief guest, we have performed better in international championships, we won medals.
So With this program we are hoping to keep performing better in international tournaments.” Justus Mugisha.

This is the second time, the association is holding the capacity building of this nature and the first one came later last year and 768 participants benefited from the initiative.

The Director of directorate of Education standards in Ministry of Education and Sports, Mrs. Francis Atima who represented permanent secretary in the ministry who didn’t make it to the opening ceremony due to tight schedule.

Thanked the Association for the great initiative and asked students and teachers to extend knowledge collected to those who need it in the villages and schools where they do come from.

“Before I read the massage from the permanent secretary, I would like to put out these three things, I am very excited as a person, as educationist that there is opportunity that has given to young people and the teachers and I would like to thank you for putting together your time and appreciate that this is important and I would like to put a question that where do you see yourself in the next ten years and what will you take to achieve what you want to achieve.? Most often we give up along the way but they always say, when the going get tough, the tough get going.”

I also request that when you back, the skills you got here, how do you use them to help the young you found in the villages?. You take it upon yourself that when I get back home in my holidays, I will bring the young together and give them knowledge.” She Said.

Mrs. Francis also read the Permanent secretary message that was thanking the Association for helping the ministry to shape Uganda’s children and promised to give more support.
