Pepsi University Football League Week 4 Round-Up: Kampala University, UMU, Kyambogo Exhibit Class as Newcomers Continue to Struggle

Week 4 of the Pepsi University Football League was filled with emotions, drama, and celebration as former champions reminded fans of their pedigree. Across seven matches, 22 goals were scored, leaving spectators entertained and eager for more.
In Fort Portal, Kampala University showed their experience with a composed 3–1 win over Mountain of the Moon University. Though it wasn’t a thrilling game, KU’s efficiency made the difference. Team assistant captain Nsubuga Benjamin said, “We didn’t play our best football, but champions win even on bad days.”
Back in the capital, Kyambogo University — champions in 2018 — fought hard to secure a 1–0 win over Busitema University at the Kyambogo Cricket Ground. The rough pitch made play difficult, but the home crowd’s energy pushed their team across the line.
In Nsambya, Uganda Christian University (UCU) bounced back strongly from an earlier loss, thrashing King Ceasor University 6–1 at the Yes Center. The 2019 champions dominated from start to finish, sending a clear message that they are back in form.
At the Hamz Stadium, St. Lawrence University (SLAU) defeated Makerere University Business School (MUBS) 3–1 in one of the week’s biggest games. The result thrilled the SLAU faithful, who turned the stadium into a sea of color and chants.
On the shores of Entebbe, Nkumba University edged ISBAT University 1–0, keeping their home fans happy. ISBAT impressed with technical play, but Nkumba’s resilience earned them all three points.
In Luweero, Kumi University earned redemption with a spirited draw against Ndejje University. After losing to Ndejje twice last season, Kumi’s improved performance was celebrated as a sign of progress.
The week ended on a high note as Kabale University picked up their first-ever away point in the league, holding Africa Renewal University to a 1–1 draw in Kampala. The result felt like victory for the visitors, whose players and fans celebrated passionately after the match.
From Fort Portal to Kampala, Week 4 of the Pepsi University Football League proved once again that campus football is more than a competition — it’s a celebration of youth, pride, and passion.
