Pepsi UFL: Kampala University Squeezed ‘Balls to Berry’ as Bugema Wins Maiden Match

The Pepsi University Football League action continued even on Tuesday with one match and Bugema University beat Kampala University 2-1 to register maiden victory this season.
Wamani Fred and Suilaman Ssentongo scored the two goals for Bugema and the only header from Nsubuga Benjamin wasn’t enough to salvage a point for Ggaba road based side.
As early as 4 minutes, Wamani Fred had already handed the host a lead with a good header off Kagoda Charles’ corner kick.
After conceding, Kampala University enjoyed the ball possession for the most minutes of first half and got some limited scoring opportunities but on many occasions they went off target.
Three minutes into second half, Suilaman Ssentongo doubled the lead for the hosts with a free header, thanks to Wafula Felix’s over the head cross from the left flank.
Like it was in the first stanza, Vincent Tumusiime boys continued to control the flow of the ball on the pitch and five minutes later, Nsubuga Benjamin pulled one back for the visitors with a a powerful header, off Ssembatya Sharif corner kick from the right flank.
Kampala University tried at least to leave Bugema with a point but Wanume Gilbert and Odeke Joshua close efforts went off target.
The result means that Bugema University have secured their first victory following a defeat on road against Gulu University last weekend.
Currently, Bugema University tops Group D with three points, Gulu University, Kampala University who also have three points each come second and third respectively while Kampala International University has no point.
The action will continue tomorrow (Wednesday) with Ndejje University hosting Makerere University.
