Islamic University in Uganda 2-0 YMCA

Islamic University in Uganda continued with their perfect run at home when they beat ten man YMCA 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Mbale.

Tamubula Ismail and Onongo Denis scored the two goals that handed IUIU a much wanted win to tie with Makerere University Business School on six points.

Tamubula Ismail handed IUIU an early lead in the 13th minute with a diving header, the goal got a protest from YMCA players claiming that Shikanga Emmanuel who laid the cross that resulted into a goal fouled Martin Ssembajjwe but centre referee, Ronald Madanda who was also the one in centre for IUIU opener against Victoria University didn’t hear their claim but to point at the centre for the game restart.

Eight minutes later, Onongo Denis doubled the hosts’ lead with a powerful free kick he took at least 40 yards from the goal.

In the 43rd minute, YMCA when on serious attacking force got a Shock when their skipper, Martin Ssembajjwe received a red card for a dangerous play on Shikanga Emmanuel which retarded the visitors hopes to even have a point on road.

YMCA had to defend the 47 minutes when they are a man down.

In second stanza, Michael Kalyesubula, the YMCA tactician came with a strategy of having the ball possession with the aim of limiting damages and indeed he succeeded with his strategy.

The side didn’t concede in second half and the other opportunity IUIU got to stretch the lead, Tamubula Ismail effort was saved by the YMCA custodian.

YMCA also got the goal scoring opportunities but some were not on target and others were cooled by the IUIU custodian.

The result put YMCA almost out of the race to make it out of the group, the side now sit on bottom of group B with only one point in three games.

Keba charges are now tied on points with MUBS on six points.

The league will resume on Wednesday when the two wounded sides, Busitema University and Kumi will be meeting at Busitema grounds.
