The stage is set for thrilling encounters in the Pepsi University Football League after the quarterfinal draws were conducted on Friday at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo.

The draw ceremony was overseen by AUUS First Vice President Martha Soigi, who also serves as Kampala University Sports Tutor, alongside Red Rhino boss Obal Atubo and League Manager Anthony Tumwesigye.

The eight qualified teams were divided into two pots. Pot A comprised group winners with the highest points tally, while Pot B included three runners-up and the group winner with comparatively fewer points.

Pot A featured Kampala University, Muteesa I Royal University, Ndejje University and YMCA Comprehensive. Pot B had St Lawrence University, Kumi University, Uganda Martyrs University and Bugema University.

According to the draw format, teams from Pot B will host the first leg of the quarterfinal ties.

Two-time champions Kampala University, who topped Group A with an unbeaten run of 13 points, were drawn against Bugema University. Meanwhile, defending champions Uganda Martyrs University will host Muteesa I Royal University in what promises to be a fiercely contested Masaka Road derby.

Elsewhere, three-time losing finalists St Lawrence University face Ndejje University in a repeat of last season’s quarterfinal clash, while debutants Kumi University will take on YMCA Comprehensive.

The first legs of the quarterfinals are scheduled to be played from Tuesday through Friday next week, with the return legs set for the following week as teams battle for semifinal spots.
