Partnership: betPawa Officially ‘Marries’ FUBA with Her Two ‘Children’

The local betting company, betPawa Uganda has extended it’s sponsorship arm to the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA).
The betting company that operates in at least 12 nations in Africa has added Basketball among the sports disciplines they sponsor in Uganda.

The partnership that will see FUBA and it’s two main brands, the Female national team, the Gazelles and the male team, the Silverbacks pocketing 2.6bn shillings for a period of three years has been officially announced on Wednesday, 20, March, 2024 at Fairway Hotel Kampala.
This arrangement will see betPawa catering for the trainings, medical insurance and accommodation of the two national teams.

“FUBA has done a great job so far to develop this game in Uganda. As we commend
them, we also want to give them the support they need to elevate the game higher,
hence the timeliness of this sponsorship,” said betPawa’s Chief Branding Officer
Spencer Okach.
In addition, betPawa will also directly pay the players UGX 150,000 per match for every win their team gets under their flagship Locker Room Bonus initiative. Locker.
The locker room Bonus is a direct reward to players by the sponsor for winning matches, as a way of boosting their morale and recognising great performance.
Confirming the signing of the sponsorship, FUBA CEO Marcus Kwikiriza said that to finalize the deal, it took the federation nine months but they are happy the the company that sponsors three football products; big league, futsal and fufa drum has gave them the listening hear until the historical day arrived.

“This is the first time our players are getting an incentive such as the Locker Room Bonus and I am glad because it is a great way to recognise the efforts made by our players on the court. To reach this milestone, I had to engage Mr. Ntoudi Mouyelo for nine months but I am happy that he finally listened to us.” Says Marcus Kwikiriza, FUBA CEO.
betPawa’s Chief Commercial Officer Ntoudi Mouyelo said the sponsorship is timely given the global spotlight on the game brought on by the Basketball Africa League and he revealed that Uganda has talent that’s why the are sponsoring at least two sports disciplines.
He said the partnership will increase players’ exposure to top clubs at home and abroad as betPawa will support them in attending tournaments where they can showcase their skills.

“With Uganda Silverbacks recently being ranked by FIBA as one of the most
improved countries by ranking, moving up four spaces to position 83, out of 160; we see huge potential here. These kinds of partnerships can help them aspire to reach even greater achievements both regionally and globally,” he added.
