Olympics 2020: Another Ugandan Boxer Falls, The Wait for First Win in the Games Still Intact

It’s not yet good for the Uganda flag in the Tokyo Japan, another Ugandan Boxer, middleweight star, David Kavuma Ssemujju lost his chance to become the first Ugandan to secure a win in the Olympic games since 2004 in Athens.

Ssemujju lost to Algerian Yeounes Nemouchi by unanimous decision with all judges scoring the fight in favour of Nemouchi.

The Ugandan middleweight champion sprinted from his corner to attack the Algerian at the start but struggled to land clean shots thereafter.

All five judges decided in Kokugikan Arena where the fight was held that Kavuma lost all the three rounds. 

Kavuma became the second Ugandan to be dumped out of the race at round of 32, Catherine Nanziri was the first to suffer the defeat.

It’s now all in hands of Bomber’s captain, Shadir Musa Bwogi to set break the record set by Rukundo as the last Ugandan Boxer to secure a win in Olympic games and this one beat Puerto Rican Alex de Jesus in 2004 in Athens.
