NUP Selects Leader of Opposition of the 11th Parliament

National Unity Platform, the leading opposition party in the 11th Parliament has today appointed the Leader of Opposition of the Augast House.

The elected and sworn-in member of Parliament representing the people of Nyendo Mukungwe in Masaka, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba selected as the Leader of Opposition in the 11th Parliament.

For starters, the opposition party with big number of Members in Parliament do get the Leader of Opposition and the opposition chief Whip.

Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe, new Opposition Chief Whip

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has been providing opposition leadership in parliament for the last 15 years, since the rebirth of multiparty politics in Uganda, due to its numerical strength. But FDC has now been beaten to the trophy by NUP with 61 against 36 MPs.

Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe of Manjiya County is now the new Opposition Chief Whip and he is to be deputized by Jinja City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Kyebakutika Manjeri ‘Omutembeyi’ while Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Francis Zaake Butebi named as the Commissioner of Parliament.

National Unity Platform spokesperson, and the Nakawa West MP, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi will be the chairman of COSACE and will be deputized by Hon. Lucy Akello, representative of Amuru District Women.

Head of legal department, in NUP and the Member of Parliament Busiro East, Hon. Medard Lubega Ssegona’Akalyamaggwa’ in the new Chairman Public Accounts Committee and he is to be deputized by JEEMA President as well as representative of Bugiri Municipality people, Hon. Asuman Basalirwa.

The outspoken Mukono Municipality Legislator, Hon. Betty Nambooze Bakireke selected the chairperson of Government Assurance Committees and Hon. Gonzaga Ssewungu will need her deputy.
