No Fresher Allowed at MUK without a lap top
The Academic Register of Makerere University, Alfred Masikye released new regulations and guidelines ahead of the University reopening for the year 2021, set for early February.
The letter dated 28th January 2021, reveals that the new students/freshers shall not be allowed at Makerere if they don’t come with their lap top computers as an essential study tool.
“Each first year student admitted at any Makerere University Programme MUST have a lap top computer as one of the essential study tools for the programme.” Part of Masikye’s letter reads.

The letter also indicates that the University shall open up on Monday 1, February 2021 for freshers’ orientation and registration, and this activities shall run up to Saturday 6th February.
The activities shall take place at all colleges and each college has been given two days to be done with it.
“Notice is hereby given that the Freshers’ orientation and registration programmes will be held between Monday 1st, and Saturday 6th February 2021 (non-residential) at colleges (two days for each college) in line with COVID-19 SOPs.
The orientation, the freshers are to go through is; familiarize with campus environment and basic academic registrations, enrollment in AIMS system for registration purpose, familiarize with ODel/e-learning protocols.
Most activities at the University shall run virtually.
