Netball Uganda Sets April 1 for Awards Gala, KCCA to Finally Receive League Trophy

Netball Uganda has officially confirmed April 1, 2026, as the date for its long-awaited Awards Dinner, where KCCA Netball Club will finally be presented with the National Netball Super League trophy following their title-winning campaign in December 2025.

In a formal invitation addressed to the KCCA Netball Club team manager, the federation announced that the event will take place at Cooper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo starting at 4:00 PM. Teams have been advised to attend in their official tracksuits and observe time.

KCCA Netball Club clinched the league title on December 29, 2025, but had to wait months for the official trophy handover. The delay had sparked debate within the netball fraternity, especially after the federation’s Annual General Meeting held on February 28 at the same venue.

During that AGM, Netball Uganda President Jocelyn Ucanda revealed that the federation was not in a financial position to facilitate the awarding ceremony at the time, leading to the postponement of the trophy presentation.

However, the federation has now put the uncertainty to rest by confirming that the awards dinner will not only see KCCA crowned officially, but will also recognize individual outstanding performers from the season. In addition, Kampala University Netball Club, champions of the Men’s Super League, will also be honored during the ceremony.

With the date now set, all eyes turn to April 1, when the champions will finally receive their due recognition in what promises to be a memorable evening for the sport.
