Netball Super League: We’re not off the set targets – Weyonje’s Skipper ahead of UPDF Encounter

Makindye Weyonje Netball Club slowly setting themselves in the image of the top Netball clubs in Uganda basing on the past two seasons.
The side will have her first game of the second round of the 2022/23 season of Uganda Netball Super League tomorrow (Wednesday) at Luzira Prisons Netball Courts -Kampala when they will be visiting UPDF Netball Club.
While speaking to this website on how they are prepared for second round, the club’s skipper Shakirah Nassaka asserted that they are ready to face UPDF and they are not off their immediate targets set before the throw off of this season.
“We’re set and prepared well ahead of tomorrow’s game and I believe we have the technique to have the two points against UPDF.” Says Weyonje’s Skipper Shakirah Nassaka.
“We are not off our set targets, okay I can’t say that we are going to win the trophy this season because we have lost three games in first round but we shall not again accept to lose them, the most we can lose is a game, we want and prepared to win all in second round.” Added the 2021 League’s Most Valuable Player.
Ahead of this encounter, stats asserts that Weyonje is ahead of UPDF and in their three previous meetings, the Jesse Assiimwe coached side won all of them and in their last meeting at Kamwokya, Weyonje defeated the Bombo Barracks Soldier girls 55-49.
The form is not on good side for UPDF, the Wasswa Andrew charges lost four of their five previous matches and the immediate one it went 52-44 in favor of KCCA Netball Club, the table leaders.
Going into this game when Weyonje are in fine form, the side won four of their last five fixtures.
The side sit fourth on the log with 16 points while UPDF are 7th with only 10points.
In other fixtures on the day, Busia Greater Lions will be playing against Posta Netball Club and it will be the opening fixture of the day before hosts Prisons Netball Club lock horns with Mutelx Life Sport.
Posta will return in action for their second game of the day as they will be facing NIC Netball Club.
