The Uganda Netball Normalization Committee chairperson, Moses Mwase against refused to commit before the cameras when the Uganda Netball Federation elections and league will commence.

While addressing media at the press conference held at Nob View Hotel Ntinda on Tuesday when they [Normalization Committee and National Council of Sports] welcomed back She Cranes from the UK international tour, Mwase revealed that his committee has a lot to iron out before they hand over the responsibility to other people.

Normalization Committee took the responsibility of running the Netball activities in Uganda in November last year after the World Netball, NCS and Ministry of Education and Sports forced out the elected executive of UNF and revoking of the same federation license.

The committee was given six months to see that all get in straight line in Uganda’s Netball but according to what is not yet done, it might be hard for Mwase to beat the deadline of six months.

At the presser, Mwase was asked when the league that was supposed to throw off in November last year will get a new date, he had this to highlight.

“….I think we also communicated in the past, we have a roadmap in terms of securing our work and that roadmap includes us getting the discussion back on course for the league to happen. We would like to have the calendar for 2024 to be in place.” Says Mwase .

“So the league is a matter of time, I think we need the media and the public to be patient including the Netball family, I think some people have been attempting to organize their own league, but we are going to have the conversation with the club managers and tell them to come down….we’re in this together and we will agree on how the league will roll out.” Mwase revealed.

Since the elected executive was scrapped off, the Normalization Committee again it’s in their mandate to organize fresh elections to have a new executive and according to news making round, some individuals have come out to show their interest in taking the top seat and Mwase had this to comment.

“We have indicated that at the tail end of our activities, we will ensure that we have streemlined the membership of the federation. We would like to hope that in the coming two to three months we have thoroughly written a constitution, engaged in a conference with all the stakeholders and I think the stakeholders are known; world Netball, Africa Netball, government of Uganda, fans, athletes themselves .”

“We also then have to put in place a clear election roadmap so there is a bit of work, we can assure you, we don’t want to stick for long, we want to make sure that we bring on board a team that will continue running along with the activities of the federation.”

Among the Individuals who want to take over the UNF presidential seat are; Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso, NIC Netball Club Manager, Jocelyn Ucanda and Hon. Margret Nantongo Zziwa.
