No more power blackout at Lugogo, NCS Don Commissions 60KVA Generator Worth Millions

National Council of Sports chairman, Donald Rukare commissioned a 60KVA automatic generator worth 100 million shillings.

It has been awhile when the Council and the Sports federations using the NCS complex facilities been facing the challenge of games interruptions when the hydro power gets off at the facility and have no power backup.

The government have been promising the council but now the pledge had come true and as we speak, the generator from Adritex Uganda Limited is already at the Council Premises at Lugogo, Kampala.

On Tuesday, 23rd, February 2021, at the Premises of National Council, Lugogo, the Council Chairman Donald Rukare officially commissioned the General and thanked the Council secretariat and the government to for endless efforts to see that the Council and it’s facility get a long lasting power solution.

On behalf of Council, we would like to say that we are privileged to have the generator because this will help to ensure that the games at our facility will be able to run without interruption.” Don speaking.

We would like to thank the Council for having approved this, thank the government of Uganda for the support and now I officially duly commission the generator and I think the 85 litres of fuel will always be there and not to hear that the man or woman with keys has disappeared and make sure it works and put it to a good use, I thank you

According to NCS general secretary, Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel revealed the purpose of the generator and how much it costed them.

The generator shall supply power to the main building, the indoor stadium, BIU/PDU Building, the hockey pitch and National Sports federation offices attached to the indoor stadium.

The generator will be able to provide 24/7 power supply and it will effectively resolve the problem of power challenge.

Dr. Ogwel revealed that MS. Adritex Uganda Limited came out as the best bidders and they were award the contract on 15th October 2020 and the generator that came with the warranty of 12 months at a sum of 95,695,516 shillings, VAT inclusive.

Brief About the 60KVA Generator:

Brand new Generator at NCS

It is a JET JP60 with a Perkins Engine and Leroy Somer alternator. It uses a Diesel Fuel with a tank Capacity of 85 litres. 

It has been fitted with an automatic transfer switch that signals ghe generator to start when there is no Electricity and also signals the generator to stop when power is restored.

The generator was supplied was supplied and installed by Adritex Uganda Limited at it shall be serviced after every one thousand running hours.
