Minister Commissions New Agricultural Market

On Tuesday, 17th August, The Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze officially commissioned a new agricultural products market construction by the Miracle Centre Cathedral senior Pastor, Robert Kayanja.
The one of its kind to be constructed by a Born Again Pastor, located at Lubaga, along Nabunya Road and it was mainly put in place to promote and create market for agricultural products in the country.
The state of the art Agricultural market in Kampala was named Gold Meadow Farm.
“This market will enhance all farmers to introduce their products from the villages to where there is a market straight away to the final consumer.” Pastor Robert Kayanja stated.
Pastor says that this time around middlemen will be left out since the farmers will directly reach to the final consumer.
“The market is to benefit all Ugandans, because commodities will be on low prices compared to other markets in Kampala.” Pastor Kayanja Robert.
While commissioning the Market, Hon. Minister stated that the government and KCCA should not tender such markets because they are owned by farmers themselves.
“The government and KCCA should stop tendering these markets, let the farmers own them such that agricultural products prices be low to all residents of Kampala and the neighbors.”
The minister also thanked Pastor Robert Kayanja and his wife, Jessica Kayanja for the great initiative.
“Happy to launch this morning a farmers market initiated by Pr Robert Kayanja Pr Jessica Kayanja . I thank them for this great initiative. When farmers manage and run their own market they eliminate middlemen. Its a good idea.” Said Minister.
The employment opportunities have been created among the farmers across the country.
All farmers were called upon to amalgament with one voice as far as farming is concerned.
The minister also revealed that more private markets are still needed in Kampala and other city centers of different regions.
