Masaza Cup: Katikkiro Officially Launches 2020 Edition

The Premier of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga officially on Tuesday, 24th November 2020, launched the 16th editon of most prestigious football tournament in Uganda, Masaza Cup.

While launching the tournament, first of its kind to be hosted on a single ground which is FUFA Technical Centre Njeru, due to COVID-19, Katikkiro again asserted that Sports brings people of different identity together, and its only Sports that put Uganda on world Map.

“Nothing that brings people together that sports, and when it comes to Masaza Cup, it’s massive.

Sports is a big resource that has put Uganda on world map, so as the children of this era, we need to embrace sports, and treat it as a gold to our economic development.” Charles Peter Mayiga speaking to Buganda at Bulange Gardens Mengo.

The Katikkiro who confirmed that all games shall be live on BBS Terefina, he thanked the tournament sponsors for not running away from their relationship with the Kingdom even in this COVID-19 pandemic era.

“All games shall be live on BBS, not sure of other television platforms but what I am sure the brand of our sponsors shall have value in this year’s editon.”

Centenary Bank injected 496M in the 2020 editon, Kande Poultry Farm puts in 45M while the lead sponsors of the tournament, Airtel have put in 650M shillings

The sixteenth editon is scheduled to start on 12th December 2020 and all the games are to be hosted at one ground which is FUFA Technical Centre Njeru and the tournament opener which is between the defending Champions, Bulemeezi shall be hosting Butambala Sazza.
