Low production and quality affecting uganda’s exports on a global market

Uganda has registered usd5.47b in 2022 a decline of 14.48% from the usd6.39b in 2021according to the Uganda bureau of statistics.

Martin Sali one of the food stuff machinery innovators in Uganda says that through his research, Ugandans have got little or no access to machines that could help to sustain the production quality and quantity across the globe even the local market.

It’s this cause that has encouraged them to organisers a second Agro processing machinery expo at Makerere University freedom square that is slated to run from 22-25 of November 2023 where Ugandans most especially students will get access to technical know how and access to machinery of value addition since a variety of options will be available for those days.

Cathy Mbidde the manager at Makerere University innovation hub says that this expo will help them fight the jobless youths and students to beat the 2030 sustainable development goal of poverty eradication in the young people.

The unemployment rate in Uganda saw no significant changes in 2022 in comparison to the previous year 2021 and remained at around 4.28 percent. Still, 2022 marked the second consecutive decline of the unemployment rate as on 4th October 2023 by the statistics from the national bureau.

Also statistics has it that in 2022, the youth unemployment rate in Uganda remained nearly unchanged at around 6.58 percent. The youth unemployment rate of a country or region refers to the share of the total workforce aged 15 to 24 that is currently without work, but actively searching for employment.
