Kayunga Decides2021: FDC’s Nakaddu Brendah Is Confident of Beating Her Elders On Woman Mp Seat
When the Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II said that this generation is for youth, many did not take it for granted when you compare the number of young people joined politics to the previous five years.
Among the young ones who are vying for top seats in the country both at presidential level and parliament is the 23 year old Nakaddu Brendah who has come to unseat Idah Erios Nantaba from Kayunga Woman Member of Parliament come 2021.
The former Namagabi Secondary School student is confident that she has potential to beat her elders in the race because it’s not all about age but ideas.
“I am confident that I can beat them because now the electorates no longer look at age of someone or experience he or she has in politics but the ideas someone presents to them.” Via phone interview, Confident Nakaddu told this website.
Despite her little age and average experience in top national politics of the nation, Nakaddu says that the electorates are very welcoming to her and many of them including her family members are so supportive to her main cause of changing Kayunga district.
“So far the voters in Kayunga are very supportive and welcoming, because I speaking and presenting to them the issues that are challenging them, and my family is supportive too because I have been showing it to them that am more in politics and have those leadership qualities.”
When asked with she will continue with politics journey if in case fails to win the race that has seven contestants, Brendah said its not in her minds that she will not wear the Victor’s Crown.
“In my mind I don’t have that thought of failing, I am going to win, and don’t expect me to quit politics whatsoever.”
Once she takes the seat, Nantaba has been enjoying for the past ten years, Nakaddu is planning of improving the livelihood of Kayunga residents, especially the farmers, needy children, advocating for road improvement in the district, working on women’s SACCOs, and the like.
“When I get victory, I want to improve the livelihood of our people, our roads are very bad, need to be improved and constructed, such that our agriculture products get market value, improving on women SACCO’s, we still have the problem of land grabbing, water challenges and I want to lobby such that we get more vocational schools.”
Nakaddu is set to contest against the incumbent Idah Erios Nantaba (Independent), Harriet Nakwedde (NUP) Agatha Nalubwama (NRM) Jackline Birungi (Independent) and Lydia Wabuuza (DP) Margret Nabirye. Harriet Nakwedde.
