The 2025/26 FUFA Women Super League is fast approaching, and the biggest storyline is whether Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club can finally topple Kampala Queens from the summit.
Last season, Kampala Queens stamped their authority on the league with 49 points—four clear of Kawempe Muslim, who finished runners-up on 45 points. Despite pushing hard, Kawempe’s bid was undone by key player exits and ill-timed injuries. The departure of Hadijah Nandago and inspirational captain Phiona “Maestro” Nabulime left gaps both on the pitch and in leadership. Midfield dynamism also gets a boost with Asia Nakibuka’s return from Kampala Queens—a symbolic move that not only strengthens Kawempe’s engine room but adds a personal narrative of redemption. In addition, the arrival of Amina Nakato from She Corporate increases competition across the squad, ensuring depth and resilience.
As always, Kawempe’s celebrated academy pipeline continues to feed the first team with polished young talents. This homegrown strength allows the club to withstand departures while maintaining a fluid style of play.
Guiding the side is the tested and trusted duo of Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi and assistant Moses Nkata, both revered for their tactical sharpness and ability to nurture rising stars. Their experience could prove decisive in navigating the demanding season ahead.
