Kampala International: Kasirye Brian Only one still Holding Uganda’s Flag, Off to Semis
Uganda’s seed one in men’s category, Kasirye Brian is the only Ugandan still standing in men singles following his 2-1 win over Myanmar’s Hein Htut at quarters.
On Saturday morning at Lugogo Indoor Arena, Kasirye Brian came from one set down to win the tie 2-1 to progress to semi finals of the 2023 Kampala International Future Series.
He lost the first set 21-12 but bounced back to take the second 21-07 and the third 21-17.
The Myanmar international failed to keep the game in control after Kasirye pulling up is game in second set scoring up to 6 points ahead of his opponent.
The set ended in favor of Uganda star with score board reading 21-07.
The much pressure At the 3rd set and were just nearly to some drama.
Kasirye first took another 6 points advantage in the deciding set.
With the Set counting 18-12 Kasirye looked excited as he were forced to concede following reckless mistakes with some bad shorts until game got on 18-15.
When Htut started sighting the come back gained a point to make 4 laps gap thanks for bad serving of his opponent.
The 17 year old Htut tried to continue chasing minimizing the gap to 17-19 but he ended up shooting off court twice to give Kasirye the much needed result 21-17.
At the same level, Husina Kobugabe lost two sets straight against Zainaba Reem Siraj.
The tournament will be climaxing on Sunday before the Uganda International Series commences on Monday.
These two tournaments are Olympic 2024 qualifying events and points collected are counted.
