ISF World Cup: Amus College Off to Quarters, Bukedea at the Qualification Verge

Uganda representative in the International Schools Federation World Cup 2024 underway in Dalian China, Amus College has qualified to the quarter final after beating resilient Kenyan side.
In the last group G stage fixture, Amus College needed a win against the neighbors Kenya to secure a place at the quarter final for the first time in the championship, they beat the latter 2-0 in the game played earlier on Tuesday at Youth Training Base in Dalian.
Musabbah Hakim’s first minute strike in the opening stanza and a second half goal (55 minutes) from Davis Busuulwa handed Teso region giants a much needed win to secure a slot in the last eight.
They have finished the group stage action with seven points in three matches.
The other Uganda representative, Bukedea Comprehensive School is still in second position with six points, three behind table leaders, Germany.
The side needs to beat Germany in a highly anticipated fixture on Wednesday to brighten their chances of joining Amus on quarterfinal.
Bukedea are remaining with two games of group stage, that’s against Germany tomorrow (Wednesday) and Mexico on Thursday.
In every group, the top side qualifies to knockout stage.
The other Uganda’s representative, St Mary’s College Kisubi are yet to secure any win in the championship and on Wednesday, they will be in action playing against England two.
In Girls’ category, Amus College is second in group C with four points in two games, they’re also return to action on Wednesday, playing against Czech Republic.
Meanwhile in CAF African Schools championship that kicked off on Tuesday in Zanzibar, Kawempe Muslim SS shared points with South African representatives in the opening fixture.
The game ended 1-1 and the goals for Uganda’s representative, was converted by Shadia Nabirye in the 4th minute of first half but in the first minute of second half, South Africa leveled and at the final whistle, points were shared.
